Overview of the Customer

ELCA Cosmetics Private Limited is the Indian arm of The Estée Lauder Companies, the prestige beauty group founded in 1946 and now trading in over 150 countries. The group entered India in 2006 and today runs its business here from Mumbai with a team of more than 800 people, bringing brands including Estée Lauder, Clinique, M·A·C, La Mer and Tom Ford Beauty to the Indian market through department-store counters, standalone stores and e-commerce.

A prestige beauty operation of that spread generates continuous labelling work — product and batch identification, inventory and logistics marking, and the retail and distribution paperwork that moves stock between a central Mumbai operation and counters across the country. ELCA runs this in-house on Astranova inkjet label printers at its Godrej BKC office, using four different label formats for different applications. All four had to be available together, to specification, within a fixed delivery window, and the order had to be transacted on the group’s global e-procurement platform, which holds its suppliers to strict documentation and fulfilment standards.

Scope of Work

• Four label formats: 55mm x 30mm, 75mm x 40mm, 75mm x 51mm and 78mm x 151mm.
• Roll conversion: Each format converted and wound to the roll specification required by the customer’s printers.
• Volume supply: A multi-lakh label requirement consolidated across all four formats into a single delivery schedule.
• Printer compatibility: Face stock and liner selected to run cleanly on Astranova inkjet label printers.
• Delivery: Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) to the customer’s BKC location.

The Requirements

Face stock and liner were selected for Astranova inkjet printing, so print quality and feed reliability held across all four sizes rather than only the most commonly used one.
