Barcode Labels, Ribbons & Thermal Paper Rolls

Manufactured at our own plant near Mumbai — custom sizes, materials and print, with repeat orders held on file

Consumables manufacturing

The consumables are ours, not somebody else's stock

Most barcode suppliers in Mumbai resell labels and ribbons. We make them. Alongside our IT and barcode solutions business, SNA Infotech runs a consumables manufacturing vertical from a 9,000 sq ft automated plant at Vasai East, producing barcode labels, thermal transfer ribbons, thermal and non-thermal paper rolls for point of sale, and computerised cinema and entry ticket rolls.

That changes what we can say yes to. A non-standard label size, a specific adhesive for a cold store, a roll printed with your exchange policy on the reverse, a short run for a pilot — these are production decisions we make ourselves rather than requests we pass up a supply chain. It also means a reorder is a job number, not a hunt for stock, and that the specification you approved is the specification you get next time.

We have been doing this for over twenty years, as part of an IT business that has served Mumbai since 1989, and we are an official Avery Dennison partner for specialised label applications. On the ticketing side the customer list speaks for itself — INOX, Cinépolis, Carnival, Miraj, UFO and Qube all run on rolls made here.

Labels

Four label families, chosen by what the label has to survive

The material matters more than the size. A label that will sit on a carton for three weeks and one that must stay readable on a machine for five years are different products, and picking the wrong one shows up as faded print or peeled corners months later.

Chromo labels

Semi-gloss coated paper, the general-purpose workhorse. Face stock in high gloss, semi-gloss or colour; gumming in regular, high-tack or easy-peel.

When to use it: Choose chromo when the label is printed with a ribbon and lives indoors — cartons, shipping, pharma packing, cosmetics.

Grades: CBC 75 Chromo, CBC 75 High Tech

Direct thermal labels

No ribbon needed — the printhead darkens the coating directly. Top-coated or non-tearable face stock, in 60, 70 and 195 GSM.

When to use it: Choose direct thermal for short-life labels where cost per label matters: courier and logistics labels, weighing-scale labels, baggage tags.

Grades: DT-460

PVC & film labels

Non-tearable synthetic face stock in PP matte, PP glossy, white or silver, with regular, high-tack or temperature-sensitive gumming.

When to use it: Choose film when the label has to survive — chemicals, solvents, outdoor exposure, wash-down, or an asset that must stay identified for years.

Grades: CL-520 PP White, CL-520 PP Silver

Use-case specific designs

Jewellery tags, cosmetics labels, clear "no-label" look, woven labels, digitally printed short runs and sheet-form labels for office printers.

When to use it: These are made to your artwork and dimensions rather than ordered from a size chart. Send a sample or a drawing and we will match it.

Grades: Made to order

Avery Select Solutions catalogue

As an official Avery Dennison partner we also supply their specialised portfolios where an application needs a branded, tested construction: airline tags and boarding passes, apparel, automotive battery labels, ink-jet labels, drum labels and industrial applications. If a specification calls for Avery by name, we can quote it directly.

Thermal transfer ribbons

Fifteen-plus grades, because "a ribbon" is not one product

Ribbons are graded by how hard the printed image is to scratch off and how well it resists smudging, and resin grades are additionally rated against alcohol and gasoline. The numbers below are our own production grades. Higher is tougher.

Wax — volume printing, short print life

The economical choice for coated paper labels that are read and discarded within weeks. Used across inventory, logistics, restaurants, hospitals and diagnostics.

GradeScratch resistanceSmudge resistance
KX-1001050
Wax Plus30150
KX-11150250

Wax-resin — medium print life, the versatile grade

The right answer when one printer has to run several label stocks. Wax-resin prints well on both chromo and PVC, which is why hospitals and general industry standardise on it rather than stocking two ribbons.

GradeScratch resistanceSmudge resistance
NK-1070300
NK-1590400
NK-15+100500
NK-20+120650
NK-21150800
NK-21-P200900

Resin — long print life in harsh conditions

For synthetic labels that face abrasion, solvents or years of service: machinery, consumer durables, tyres, chemicals and pharma. Resin grades are specified against the exact threat, which is why the alcohol and gasoline columns matter — tell us what the label will meet and we will name the grade.

R-33330150505

Washcare — garment labels that go through laundry

Durable, laundry-resistant and heat-resistant ribbons for textile and garment care labels, printed on satin, nylon and polyester taffeta.

GradeBuilt for
TR-35Premium washcare ribbon for satin and nylon
TR-40Universal economic grade for nylon taffeta
TR-45Economic grade for nylon and polyester taffeta

Specialised grades

Beyond the four families we run near-edge CTX-533, R-304 for varnished surfaces, colour wax ribbons and TTO (thermal transfer overprinting) ribbons for flexible packaging lines. These are made against a use case rather than stocked — describe the application and we will suggest the grade.

Getting the pair right

Which ribbon goes on which label

The most common support call we get is faded or smudging print, and the cause is almost always a ribbon and label stock that were never meant for each other. This is the short version.

Label stockRibbon familyTypical applications
Chromo / coated paperWaxCartons, inventory, logistics, restaurants, diagnostics
Chromo or PVC, mixed usageWax-resinOne printer running several label stocks; hospitals, general industry
PVC, PP, polyester filmResinMachinery, consumer durables, tyres, chemicals, pharma
Satin, nylon & polyester taffetaWashcareGarment care labels that go through laundry and heat

Two things the table cannot decide for you. First, print life: if the label has to be readable in three years, move up a grade rather than down. Second, the printer — near-edge printheads need near-edge ribbons, and a flat-head ribbon in a near-edge machine will disappoint whatever the grade. Send us the printer model with your enquiry and we will check it.

Thermal paper rolls, plain or printed in five colours

Our own SN-POS range, manufactured at the same plant. Rolls go out plain for everyday billing, or printed front and back when the receipt is doing a second job.

Specifications

  • Roll width54 mm – 110 mm
  • Paper thickness44 GSM – 120 GSM
  • Paper typeHansol, Indian Prime, top coated
  • PrintingUp to 5 colours, front & back

Why print the reverse

A till roll is the one piece of paper every customer takes home. Retailers print their exchange and returns policy on the back so it cannot be disputed at the counter. Transport operators print conditions of carriage. Cinemas and events print the terms that would otherwise need a separate slip.

Because we print the rolls ourselves, the artwork is held with the job and a reorder comes back identical — no re-approval, no drift in colour between batches.

Logistics & transport

Lorry hire sheets, cash receipts, metro tickets and toll plaza receipts, printed with your terms and conditions on the reverse.

Entertainment & cinema

Computerised cinema ticket rolls, entry tickets and amusement park tickets, with sensor marks and full-colour branding.

Banking & ATM

ATM paper rolls to specification, with the coating and thickness the machine expects.

Retail, F&B & cafe

Billing rolls, cafe rolls and kitchen printer rolls, plain or pre-printed with offers and policy text.

Computerised ticketing

Cinema and entry ticket rolls

The same plant runs a ticketing line: computerised cinema and entry ticket rolls, sensor-marked to each venue’s box-office system.

Ticketing has its own page

Cinema ticket rolls, entry and gate tickets, cafe and concession rolls and box-office billing rolls — with sensor marks set to your specific system and up to five-colour printing front and back. INOX, Cinépolis, Carnival, Miraj, UFO and Qube all run on rolls from this plant. See cinema & entry ticket rolls.

How an order runs

From specification to a repeat schedule

Tell us the job

Label size and material, or roll width and GSM, plus how many and how often. A sample or photo of what you use today is usually enough.

We quote and sample

You get a price per label or per roll, and where the job is custom, a physical sample to approve before we run it.

We manufacture

Production runs at the Vasai plant under our ISO 9001:2015 quality system, with the artwork and die held on file for repeat orders.

Repeat on call

Reorders quote against the same job number. Regular users move to a call-off schedule so stock arrives before it runs out.

FAQ

Labels, ribbons and rolls — common questions

We manufacture. Labels, ribbons and thermal paper rolls are produced at our own 9,000 sq ft plant at Vasai East, near Mumbai. That is why custom sizes, custom materials and short runs are possible at all, and why a repeat order does not depend on an importer's stock position.

It depends on the item. Standard label sizes and stock ribbon grades ship in small quantities. A custom die, a custom roll width or a printed roll carries a minimum run because of the setup involved — tell us the job and we will quote the minimum with the price.

Usually yes. Send a physical sample, or a photo with the dimensions and the printer it runs on. We can match size, material, adhesive, core and winding direction, and we hold the specification for your reorders.

As a rule: wax for coated paper labels, wax-resin when one printer runs several stocks, resin for synthetic labels that must survive chemicals or abrasion, and washcare for garment labels. The matching table above covers the common cases, and we will confirm against your actual label and printer.

Yes. Rolls can be printed in up to five colours, front and back, with perforation. Retailers use the reverse for exchange policy and terms, transport operators for conditions of carriage.

Almost certainly. We manufacture computerised cinema ticket rolls, entry ticket rolls and cafe rolls, and the critical detail is the sensor mark — it has to sit where your specific printer expects it. Send us a sample ticket and tell us the system, and we will match the width, the mark position, the cut and the winding. Multiplex chains including INOX, Cinépolis, Carnival, Miraj, UFO and Qube run on rolls from this plant.

Yes — under our UHF Labs brand, which covers chromo, direct thermal, PVC, on-metal and taffeta hangtag RFID formats. Those are covered on the barcode & RFID solutions page.

Yes. We supply customers across India from the Vasai plant, and manufacture to export-compliant standards for customers shipping overseas.

Send us a sample, get a price and a matching grade

A photo of the label, roll or ticket you use today, with its size and the machine it runs on, is enough to quote against. For custom work we will send a physical sample to approve before anything is produced.
