Savita Oil: Remote QC Inspection CCTV

  • Client: Savita Oil Technologies Ltd.
  • Scope: IP CCTV for QC inspection, 16-channel NVR, surveillance storage, PoE networking, structured cabling & training

Overview of the Customer

Savita Oil Technologies Ltd. is a long-established Indian manufacturer of petroleum specialities and lubricants, with manufacturing operations including its plant at Turbhe, Navi Mumbai. Quality control sits at the centre of the business: every batch is tested before it moves, and those tests have to be witnessed and verified.

The company approached SNA Infotech for a camera system that would let quality-control tests be inspected remotely, rather than requiring a reviewer to stand in the lab for every check.

The Challenge

Savita’s Quality Control department needed QC tests to be viewed and verified remotely, so that reviewers did not have to be physically present in the lab for every inspection.

  • Working plant environment: strict contractor compliance covering insurance, ESIC and minimum-wage documentation before any team could mobilise.
  • Restricted work windows: cabling had to fit around internal audits without interrupting production.
  • Housekeeping and safety: cable runs inside an operating facility had to be neat, protected and compliant.

The Solution

SNA Infotech designed a compact, enterprise-grade IP system built around Honeywell equipment:

  • Cameras: four Honeywell 5MP IR bullet IP cameras (HC50WB5R3, 3.6 mm) and one 3MP IR dome (HC50W43R3, 2.8 mm) covering the QC test areas.
  • Recording: a Honeywell 16-channel NVR with two SATA bays and a 10 TB surveillance-grade drive, leaving 11 channels free for future expansion.
  • Network: a Netgear GS110TP gigabit switch with 8 PoE ports and 2 SFP uplinks, so each camera runs on a single cable for power and data.
  • Infrastructure: a D-Link 4U wall-mount rack with glass door and lock, CAT6 cable in 20 mm PVC conduit, Lapton junction boxes, self-standing movable brackets and PVC casing.
  • Viewing: a 15 m Honeywell 4K HDMI run to the display, plus client software on the QC laptop and PC.

Execution

  • Compliance first: SNA submitted insurance, ESIC and wage documentation before mobilising, meeting the plant’s contractor-entry requirements.
  • Flexible scheduling: cabling was rescheduled around the customer’s internal audit so that operations were never disrupted.
  • Handover: system software was configured on the QC team’s PC, and QC staff were trained on live view and playback.

The Results

  • Remote verification: QC tests can now be reviewed live and from recordings, without the reviewer being in the lab.
  • Room to grow: 11 spare NVR channels allow cameras to be added without new recording hardware.
  • A repeatable design: Savita repeated the deployment at its Silli factory with the same bill of materials, turning the Turbhe design into a template for other plants.

Why It Matters

For manufacturers, CCTV is no longer only a security tool. It is also a quality and compliance tool. A well-designed QC camera system creates a visual audit trail, supports remote approvals and reduces the need to travel between plants.

Conclusion

A focused five-camera system, designed around how the QC team actually works, removed the need for a reviewer to be physically present at every test. Just as importantly, the design proved repeatable: the same bill of materials went on to serve a second factory. For multi-plant manufacturers, that repeatability is often worth more than the individual installation.
